Lombardia

Lombardia, or Lombardy, is one of Italy’s most northern regions, and borders Switzerland. It is full of alpine thrills, lakes with glamorous visitors, and the country’s commercial powerhouse: Milan. A city so unlike its other Italian counterparts, Milan is well worth exploring to get a different feel of Italy (think, some skyscrapers) and enjoy the best risotto of your life.

What to eat?

Risotto alla milanese (saffron risotto, Milan style) and drink a negroni sbagliato (“messed up negroni” invented in Milan, which substitutes prosecco for gin)

What to see?

Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper in Milan

What to do?

(Famous) people watch at Lake Como, Maggiore, Garda, or Iseo.

Bocconcini-Sized Tales

On my honeymoon in Milan my husband and I stumbled upon a free Andrea Bocelli and Lang Lang concert in front of the duomo. Only in Italy.
